Privacy notice

Plain language, because that’s what we’d want to read.

What we collect

When you send a request or a message we keep what you type: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number if you add one, the dates and options you chose, group size, dietary needs, and any questions. If you create an account we also keep your sign-in email and password (the password is stored hashed — we can’t read it).

Why we collect it

To reply to you, to confirm your days with 9Miles: Surfing for Dreams, to plan transport and catering around your group, and to run the day safely. We don’t sell or rent your details, and we don’t use them for advertising.

Who sees it

Cape Trek, and — for the days you volunteer — 9Miles: Surfing for Dreams, who need a headcount and any dietary or accessibility needs to host you. Your details are stored with Supabase (our database provider) and, when we email you, pass through our email provider. Both act on our instructions only.

How long we keep it

For as long as needed to arrange and follow up on your visit, and afterwards only as far as tax and accounting rules require. You can ask us to delete your request at any time.

Your rights

Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email capetrekcpt@gmail.com or use the contact page and we’ll sort it out.

Cookies and storage

The site saves your in-progress request in your own browser so a page refresh doesn’t lose it; nothing is sent to us until you press “Send my request”. If you sign in, your session is kept in your browser too. We don’t use advertising cookies.
